It's just the three of us again. Les left yesterday afternoon - this time Arizona for about two weeks. So the kids and I have to stay busy so we do not think about how long he will be gone. Luckily Grandma and Papa brought us pizza last night and visited for a while. Having company always helps. This weekend went by so fast! We woke up late on Saturday and left for Waco to spend some money. Boy did we spend money, but it was nice to be able to buy things that we had been waiting so long for. Kohls was having an enormous sale, so we stocked up there. Next stop was Academy; anytime we go to Waco with Les he has to just drop by Academy to check it out. Ignorantly we saved Wal-Mart for last. The kids were extremely tired and grouchy. Ok here is the funny story for the day. While at Wal-Mart Leslie had to go to the bathroom really badly. So I luckily take her to the back of the store bathroom. We went to the biggest stall and placed her on the toilet. I stepped back to give her concentration room, if you know what I mean. The next thing I heard echoing through the room was, "Come on poo poo, you can make it!" She yelled this in the bathroom and followed it with an old man's grunt! I was so embarrassed and so glad we were in the back stall in the back of the store! Leslie is so funny! Seriously, there is NEVER a dull moment when she is around!

Good Friends and a Glass of Wine

Have you heard the new song by Leann Rimes called "Good Friends and a Glass of Wine"? Well I can really relate, at least to the title. However there was no wine, we did have a lot of laughs and memories. Our good friend Jeremy Elmore came to visit us last night after he got off of work at Comanche Peak in Glen Rose. As many of you already know, Jeremy and his wife, Aimee helped me a lot while I taught third grade in Round Rock. We all became really good friends. They are now living in Kentucky with their six kids. Yes this is the family I have told you all about that just had twin boys to make a family of six boys! We sat around the dinner table just laughing and reminiscing good times. What would life be like without friends? I hope I do not ever find that out! It is amazing how good you feel when your friends make you laugh and laugh. We are hoping to make another road trip this summer to go visit them.

Is She Attached?

Oh, the American Girl Doll company. Got to love them. They make these 18" dolls with hair girls can brush and story books that girls can read. Their eyes open and close as you lay them down and their bodies are made of cloth, except the arms, legs, and head. They are really well made dolls, however they average around $90 per doll with no extra accessories; that is an additional cost. They make dolls that little girls can pick out that even look like themselves. The store that I wrote about a few blogs ago is like a Super Wal-Mart for the dolls. You get the picture I am sure. So, Leslie did not have anything to do with her doll that day, but since then she has taken her dollie everywhere! I should mention that she did not take Kirsten, the doll, camping with us. I am not sure why, but when we got home she immediately asked where her doll was. I heard Leslie say once she found Kirsten, "Oh, Kirsten! I missed you so much. Come on let's go play." My heart melt. That night she asked if Kirsten had PJ's for her to wear so she could sleep with her. On Monday we got Kirsten dressed in her ballet outfit that came in the suitcase with her to go to dance class with Leslie. Let me tell ya, that was the best dance class time we had in long time. Was it because we had not been there in two weeks or was it the doll? Yesterday, Leslie decided she wanted Kirsten's hair curly like hers, so we put rollers (that also came in the suitcase) in her hair. I want Leslie to get attached to this doll because they are really fun and create wonderful imaginative play, expensive but fun. They can be awesome companions. However, most girls do not get attached to these dolls until the age of 7 or so. What do I do? Go with it and have fun? Start purchasing accessories for the doll or just wait. I do not know what to do. You decide, is this Leslie's new best friend or is it just a fad?

As for my all-boy son, Nolan, he only needs three more stars (for good behavior at school) to make another month of ALL STARS! Yeah! He read the last and hardest book in the BOB book series to me last night. He continues to amaze me! He is lovin' life with his Daddy home to take him to T-Ball practice and mow the yard. Yes there is several BLADES of grass that the two feel they need to mow. Hey, whatever floats their boat! At least I will always have a fantastic looking yard.

We'rrrrreee Baaaaaaack!

Well for those of you that do not know, we have been visiting the state of Arkansas with Grandma and Papa for the past week. It was a blast and here is the story. This may be a two day reading for you because it was really hard to fit an entire week in one blog entry. Sorry it is sooooo long!

Once upon a time a family decided to take a road trip to Arkansas during their Spring Break. Little did they know what they were really in for! As they loaded their trailer and truck to prepare for the long seven hour trip with two kids, the mom and dad started wandering about the price of gas and the weather. "Bye Chili Dog, bye Buster, and bye rabbits!" the two children yelled as the family drove away. Before they reached the city limits of Clifton one child asked "How much longer?" while the other yelled "I want to watch a movie!" The happy family met up with the Grandma and Papa and their trailer on down the road. After a few potty stops and picnic lunch they finally reached the Arkansas state line. The trees were much taller with mountains in the skyline. Through Hot Springs they drove while hearing "Are we there yet, are we there yet, are we there yet?????!!!" and visiting the first of THREE trips to Wal-Mart. Once they climbed a very tall mountain they realized they had reached the Lake Ouachita State Park. It was beautiful. The mom was a little disappointed that all the trees had not bloomed, but hey there were no bothersome bugs to deal with. The kids hopped out of the car yelling and screaming of joy, oh actually that was the parents! They set up the camp site to fit a king when they heard of a huge storm heading their way with damaging winds. So they packed up all the chairs after enjoying them for a good hour. Indeed it did rain. It rained for two days and nights! The scared little family enjoyed a game of Bingo and Sorry while the storm passed. The next day came after a long stormy night. The mommy had plans to take a bath in the 143 degree water of Hot Springs. Well after a few melt downs (from the kids that is) they decided to just tour the Bathhouses instead.

That night the family made yummy s'mores and a good game of Bingo. The next day the team traveled to a science museum and witnessed caged lightning. Yes, that's right...caged lightning. As if the kids were not afraid of the real lightning at all. However, the museum was really fascinating and educational in which the mommy liked a lot! Once all the cold weather and rain passed, it was onto the lake for some good ole fishing. The family fished and fished and fished and fished, you get the point. However no fish, No fish, No Fish, NO FISH! All the fish must had been at the bottom of the enormous lake because not ONE fish had attempted to bite the bait the ENTIRE WEEK. Do you sense the FRUSTRATION?! The family thought that the fish were just not biting at this lake and hoped that they would at another lake. So the next day they took yet another ROAD TRIP up a scenic highway with hairpen curves and steep elevations. Luckily the kids did not get car sick or they would have had a one bad day. The road was gorgeous with breathtaking views of the forests and lakes.

Petit Jean State Park was their destination that day with hopes of great hiking and fishing. Once they arrived all the family saw out of the truck windows were cut down and dead trees. It was an ugly sight to see and they wandered if they had made a mistake. As they drove on to the park, the scenery turned greener and healthier. They all sighed. After the stop at the visitor center to pick up the trail maps the boys spotted a lake with a dock. They immediately got their fishing poles and ran to the water. They fished and fished and fished and fished. But once again...No fish, no fish, NO FISH!! They are still wondering to this day if there are any fish in the Arkansas lakes. That was a big disappointment. However the mommy told the family to get their walking sticks (the ones they had been whittling for days) ready because they were about to take a hike to a 95 foot waterfall. The hike was an easy one since it was a boardwalk ALL the way to the falls! However, the Grandma and Papa were still out of breath. The falls were amazing, however the kids were ready to go after seeing it for ONE second. After enjoying the wonderful scenery, they decided to go on a bear cave hike through huge rock mountains. Once again, they all grabbed their sticks and cameras and headed off. They climbed, scaled, and even went under the huge craters of rocks. It was truly amazing what water and wind can do..the force of mother nature is awe inspiring. Once every one's feet were aching they got back in the car for their ride back to camp.

The next day the smart family celebrated Easter and consisted of enjoying the lake and FISHING again. The Easter bunny came to both trailers and hid eggs in the forest leaves. The kids will probably never hunt Easter eggs in leaves ever again due to having Easter so early in the year and on Spring Break. It was really different than hunting in green grass.

Afterwards the daddy was so determined to catch a fish he rented a flat bottom boat for half a day to fish in coves. There was no luck there either, so the chilly family just rode around the lake enjoying the mountainsides and the rest of the day. The night grew colder and the next day was their last. The family really enjoyed their vacation and wanted to stay a lot longer because they did not get to see everything they wanted. So maybe another trip to Arkansas, the Natural State, will be in their near future.

A Diva-licious Day!

Wow what a day Leslie and I had! Today we were invited to go to Dallas to attend Club Libby Lu and American Girl Doll store for her little friend Madison's birthday. I was somewhat aware of what Club Libby Lu was about but did not ever imagine Leslie and I would have so much fun. This is a store where guests are greeted at the door with glitter pixie dust sprinkled on their heads while the enter the diva making parlor. Seriously, this is where all divas are made! They immediately went to dress up in a dress of their choice and then sat down at a huge vanity to have their nails paint glittered and hair fixed. Leslie chose to have a princess up-do of course while the other two girls chose head-set singers. Leslie's eyes lit up the entire room as the hostess placed the tiara on her head. It was priceless! The girls got to then chose a pet and lip gloss of their choice and then danced to Hanna Montana songs. It was so much fun and I would definitely recommend this place to any little girl. Afterwards it was off to American Girl Doll store for birthday cake. Well, Leslie is still a little young for those dolls, so I ended up carrying her doll (Grandma got a garage sale) around the store. It was still loads of fun though. I can't wait until Leslie really gets into the American Girl Dolls. They are so cute and full of life. Having a little girl is so much fun! I must admit I enjoyed all the stuff as much as the little ones did! Oh to be little again....

I've Gone and "Done" It!

Welcome to our family blog! Well, as the title says, I have finally been talked in to created a blog from my long time best friend Cheri. I think it is a wonderful way to keep the family posted on what is going on in the life of the "Davis Rodeo". There have been many stories about the kids I would share with Cheri and she would say, "You have got to start blogging so you can tell your family this funny story!" So here I am! I think most of you would really enjoy it because our days are full of life and funny stories.

My Little Sister the Easter Bunny

Nolan had his class Easter party yesterday and it was loads of fun! Yes as many of you has guessed, I am the classroom mom that plans the parties, so of course I get to do anything I pretty much want. Hee hee. And yes, I suppose I am living a teacher dream through my son's class. So, the students had to find eggs numbered 1-12 in order to keep them. There were so many eggs out on the ground I thought it was going to be a disaster, but it went really well. Okay as far as my little 'spitfire' daughter, Leslie, she had to wear her old rabbit costume from Halloween from 2 years ago! It was really cute watching her hide the eggs, even if the legs of the costume came up to her knees. We also took our rabbits, Ruby and Thumper to the school for the students to feed them carrots. Ok, the funny thing is that I actually gave the rabbits a bath. No, you are not supposed to give rabbits baths b/c they clean themselves like cats. It was a sight to see! Oh, I also had to blow dry them b/c their hair would not dry! It took forever!
