Summer Food

Awww summer time. I absolutely love this time of the year. There is nothing like sitting out on the back porch with a big cold glass of lemon iced tea watching the kids play on the trampoline or sprinklers. Les finally put a fan out on our porch so now we can sit and be more comfortable. Woo hoo!

We grill a lot in the summer because we are always outside. The other night we had the most delicious meal. I have a recipe of a pork tenderloin with a peach and lime concoction. Oh my goodness, it is to die for! We grilled the tenderloin medalions, peaches, green onions, and squash. The key to grilling veggies is to place them in a baggie with a couple of tablespoons of olive oil and salt and pepper. Squish them around to get them well oiled so that they do not stick to the grill. Also, if you have not tried grilling fruits you are totally missing out! The heat brings out the sweetness and they are oh so yummy!

This is the peach concoction. Oh it is so good Les dipped his tortilla chips in it. Les, it is supposed to be to wipe on the meat and fruit!

I'm Going Back

I don't know if you caught it in the last post, but I hinted around that I may not be blogging much in the next school year. That is because I have decided to go back to work! I heard that the school was going through some changes and that there was a need for second grade teachers. I did not sleep for a couple nights for wondering what to do. So I prayed to God that I needed Him to show me what decision to make. After discussing the issue with Les, we decided it would not be a bad idea to try to take the open door. If it is not in God's plan, then I would not get the job. So, I applied and received a call yesterday that
I am officially a second grade teacher! Yeah!
I am extremely excited and can't wait to start on my own room. However, there is a lot of fear floating around me. I have not taught in seven years! Oh, and Leslie will be going to the preschool there at the elementary school FOR FREE! Yes! I know down in my heart that she will truly love it.

So after this summer, I may have to say good-bye to my blogging world. We will see.

No Boys Allowed!

Well I can tell that summer has officially been in full swing. Just take a look at my blogging pattern. I have been blogging only on the weekends because it is really the only time I have. Now that both kids are at home ALL day, I don't get a chance to sit and blog. (sorry Cheri, I know how you hate it when people don't blog often!). I will try to do better this summer, because at the start of the new school year I have a feeling that I will not blog often at all. So I better get it all out this summer. I will fill you in later about that later. hee hee

Anyhoo, with summer here, I feel like a firefighter putting out all kinds of fires between Nolan and Leslie. Some days they wake up and play beautifully (at least for a while) and some days they wake up and immediately start fussing. Urgh! Well, Leslie had enough of her big brother being mean to her, so she decided to put a sign on her door. She came to me and asked for some paper and then proceeded to the art table to draw. Later she asked for some tape to attatch the note to her door. I caught a glimpse of it and started laughing. If you know Leslie, she does not like for you to laugh at her. I grabbed my camera and gave her the tape. This is what I caught her doing.

Here is the note she put on her door. Can you tell what it is? Look closely at the spikey hair do she drew. Yep, it is Nolan with a BIG X on top. " No Nolan allowed" was her comment.

She was quite upset, as you can see. However, she walked into her room and closed the door and played for a good long while all by herself.

The note stays on her door, but she has been nice enough to let her brother inside ONLY if he will play Barbie with her.

What A Party!

On Saturday we drove to Auntie Cheri and Ken's casa for some water party fun! It was Kohen's first birthday! The kids were so excited to get there, they kept asking, "Are we there yet, are we there yet?!" We did arrive early so we could get some visiting in, but I think the kids were worn out before the party even began. Cheri's house looked beautiful as ever; new floors, painted walls, new pictures. Gosh, it had been since October since we were there last and that is waaaaaay to long. I am extremely sorry Cheri and Ken. We vow to never wait that long again!

Anyhoo, the house we set and the party was planned. Cheri and Ken had bought a huge water slide, a cool racing slip and slide, and a neat baby water mat for the guests to play on. Their backyard was transformed into a water park and Nolan and Leslie loved it. They served delicious food and cupcakes! yummy! Oh, I almost forgot, she had filled up 200 water balloons for the kids to throw and that really neat game of hot potato with a new toy. It explodes water as the kids pass it around in a circle. Cheri had thought of everything, and there was never a dull moment.

Thanks Ken and Cheri for such a fun filled day and we look forward to seeing you again in the next week or so. I promise!

What are they looking at?

These two boys are so very macho when it comes to baseball. Nolan especially! He and Kelby both brought their IPODS to watch but when all of the pretty girls stepped out on stage, Nolan and his buddy couldn't keep their eyes off of them! Why it's a dance recital, of course!

Ok Ok I know it has been long enough! It has been a week already since the dance recital and I have not posted any pictures or comments on it. So, I finally got time to put the pictures on photobucket.com and post a slide show. I really wanted to post a video and I will some day. It is just really time consuming. The following posts are from the week of the recital. It was one wild and crazy week!

On a side note: I titled one of Emily's pictures as the only 8 year old that had a solo. She is actually nine years old now! Ooops, sorry Emily! I knew that! I could go in and delete and change it, but like I said, it's very time consuming!
